A match expected to take place during tonight’s January 6 episode of WWE Raw on Netflix didn’t end up happening.
The New Day made headlines a few weeks ago when they turned against Big E and kicked off a run as heels for the first time since the group was formed over 10 years ago.
They’ve been on pretty much everyone’s bad side since then, and that includes eternal fan favorite Rey Mysterio.
This led to a tag team match being set up with New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods taking on Mysterio and a tag partner of Mysterio’s choosing.
While New Day nonchalantly expected Mysterio to pick Joaquin Wilde, Cruz Del Toro or Dragon Lee from the LWO, there was in fact another leading candidate.
That candidate was former AEW star Penta El Zero Miedo, with many people expecting him to make his debut during the Raw Netflix premiere as Mysterio’s partner.
However, during an interview segment with Jackie Redmond, New Day appeared and stated that the match would no longer be happening tonight.
They said they were “supposed to” have a match, but they told Triple H they didn’t want to because the fans in LA “don’t deserve” to see them wrestle.
Immediately after New Day’s interview, a video was played that confirmed Penta’s WWE Raw on Netflix debut is indeed imminent in the coming weeks as his name appeared on the screen.
