Former WWE star Matt Cardona has taken some time to celebrate the successes from his free agency (even if he is unimpressed by the term.)
According to Matt Cardona, the time he has spent as a ‘free agent’ after leaving WWE has been not only successful from a financial and creative standpoint, but also a lot of fun.
Celebrating his free agent successes (with the caveat he seems to find that term vomit inducing), Cardona clearly is proud of his time since leaving WWE.
Taking to Twitter to write:
“These 3 years (really 2 because of that fucking pandemic) being a “free agent” (🤮) has been the most fun time of career. I don’t care how you define success…accolades, money, happiness…it’s been the most successful I’ve ever been in my career. Pro wrestling is all I’ve ever wanted to do…and I’m fortunate I’ve been able to do it for 20 years.
“F**k proving people wrong. I just want to prove my fans and myself right. Everyone has a different path. Nobody…NOBODY has been counted out (by “the office”, the fans, fuck…even myself) and has come back more times than me! If you want this (or anything) bad enough, go for it! I still am. #StillHere #AlwayzReady #IndyGod #DeathmatchKing”
Cardona also tagged a promotion he’s certainly made a splash in since his time as the ‘Indy God’, GCW.
Recently Cardona’s real life wife returned to WWE with her Chelsea Green moniker, leading to speculation that there would also be a return to WWE in Cardona’s future.
While that remains to be seen, what is clear is that Matt Cardona continues to engage in entertaining angles throughout the independent circuit, recently teaming with another WWE alum.
Cardona and Steph De Lander (formerly known as Persia Pirotta in NXT) have been teaming together since Green has returned to WWE.
