Matt Cardona’s Real Reaction To John Cena WWE SmackDown Name-Drop Revealed

WWE’s Chelsea Green has revealed Matt Cardona’s initial reaction to John Cena name-dropping him on Friday Night SmackDown.

Cardona was one of three former WWE stars who John Cena broke the fourth wall to mention in his recreation of Punk’s pipe-bomb promo on the June 20 SmackDown episode, along with TNA Wrestling’s Nic Nemeth and Claudio Castagnoli.

While Cardona ultimately took to Twitter to write “Hey @JohnCena” following this mention, Chelsea Green has revealed how her husband first reacted after finding out that he was named on SmackDown.

Speaking during a Fanatics Live signing, Green noted that she was the one to tell Cardona about the John Cena WWE promo reference.

Noting that he was “flustered” at first, Green said:

“He’s (Matt Cardona) chronically online. He never, ever, ever leaves his phone. He happened to be wrestling (when John Cena was delivering his version of the pipebomb) so he wasn’t online, didn’t know.

“I got to break the news to him. Yeah! Rare occurrence… So, I got to tell him and he was so flustered. He’s like, ‘Well, I don’t understand.’ ‘Just go watch it.’”

In addition to Cardona, Nic Nemeth and Claudio Castagnoli have reacted to John Cena name-dropping them on social media.
