A top free agent has stated that he needs to return to the WWE and has pleaded for Vince McMahon to call him in a new video shared to social media.
The ‘Indy God’ Matt Cardona, has carved a path of significant success for himself since his WWE release in 2020.
Ditching all association with his Zack Ryder gimmick, Cardona has taken up the moniker of the Death Match King, competing most notably for GCW, NWA and IMPACT.
Despite his success, the former WWE United States, Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion has frequently teased a return to Stanford.
These teases stem from rumors that Cardona will soon return to WWE, following previous reports about WWE interest in both Cardona and his wife Chelsea Green, who returned to the company in January.
After competing at the GCW Crushed Up event on September 10, Cardona invited WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon to call him up.
Cardona said the following in a video posted to Twitter:
“People want to know what it’s like to be The Deathmatch King, The Indy God. I don’t know if you can tell, it’s f**king raining.
“Just finished the show, GCW in Brooklyn, I’m walking to my car that I’m hoping has not been towed in the rain. I wish you could see this.
“It is. It’s raining. Unbelievable. I need to go back to New York. I need to go back to WWE. Vince, call me, pal.”
While this latest video is one of his more light-hearted teases, Cardona does have many ties in the company, with his wife Chelsea Green currently a WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.
Regardless, Cardona also seems to have plenty of unfinished business outside of WWE, recently calling out the champions of two top independent promotions, as he attempts to add to his already substantial collection of titles.
