Matt Hardy Reacts To Adam Cole Becoming A Free Agent

AEW star Matt Hardy has reacted to Adam Cole becoming a free agent with his WWE deal coming to an end today, Friday, August 27.

Cole’s contract originally expired in July but he agreed an extension until today so he’d be able to finish up his program with Kyle O’Reilly at TakeOver 36.

It’s believed Adam Cole will either be heading to the WWE main roster or to AEW, and Matt Hardy has now had his say. Hardy tweeted a photo of him and Cole from 2014, writing:

#TBT 2014 Lots of buzz on @AdamColePro right now. I’m not surprised at all, he’s one of the elite in this industry. Let’s not forget – The #KingMaker Big Money Matt was his original mentor in ROH, of course he’s gonna be a rock star.

“One of the elite in this industry”, you say?…

Several AEW stars, namely members of the Elite, have teased Cole joining AEW, the latest example of that being Kenny Omega posting a pic of himself in a Ghostbusters outfit on Instagram (with the idea being that Cole is a ghost since he ‘died’ in Being The Elite).

Yesterday an Amazon Live show aired with Cole and Johnny Gargano promoting some new WWE figures including a WarGames set, but it’s believed that was pre-recorded some time ago.

Perhaps notable is that WWE is not selling a Cole figure with the WarGames set despite him having been in all four WarGames matches, and in fact the figure accompanying the set is Keith Lee, who has only been in one.

PWInsider has reported the belief in WWE is that Cole is done with the company, but Fightful had reported WWE was planning to make him another offer.
