Matt Hardy Shares Hopes For A Hardy Boyz AEW Run AEW

Matt Hardy has shared his hopes for the Hardy Boyz having another run on AEW.

Matt and Jeff Hardy announced in February this year that they would reunite for a ‘final run’ as a tag team.

This run was unfortunately cut short after Jeff Hardy’s arrest on June 13 for three charges pertaining to driving under the influence.

The news came days before the Hardy Boyz were set to challenge for the AEW Tag Team Championships.

Jeff was suspended from AEW following his arrest, with AEW stating that Jeff will not return until he’s able to prove he can maintain sobriety.

Matt Hardy has previously shared positive updates on his brother.

During an appearance on Inside the Ropes, Matt Hardy was asked for his thoughts on teaming with Brother Nero should Jeff return to AEW.

Matt explained:

“Yes, I would like to go out as the Hardy Boys. That’s how we came in and I think we’d like to go out on that note and we’d like to do everything we can in AEW together.

“It was really interesting for me, once again, very frustrating. Starting in COVID was very frustrating, once Jeff and I started to get our feet under us as the Hardy Boys, things happened, which was very frustrating.”

Matt Hardy is currently involved in a story with Ethan Page and Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) that has been playing out during AEW Dark Elevation. He described pitching the idea:

“I was kind of lost at that time. I end up pitching a thing to reunite and reconcile with Private Party and that’s what we’ve been doing.

“We’ve been doing a lot of content that hasn’t necessarily lived on the TV programming all the time. It has here and there, but there’s stuff with me getting them away from Andrade, now that Ethan Page has their contract.

“I’m trying to make things right with them and we’re reunited. The Elevation and Dark content have been really fun.”

In their AEW tag team debut, Matt and Jeff defeated Private Party during the March 16 edition of AEW Dynamite.

Matt Hardy will enter the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale during Dynamite on December 7.

Ethan Page vowed to help Hardy win the Battle Royale during the November 30 edition of Dynamite.

While Matt Hardy is embracing his current booking, he still has hopes for a final Hardy Boyz run with Jeff at AEW.

Matt said:

“I definitely want to have a great run in AEW with Jeff and that is my goal, whenever that happens, it happens.

Until then, I am happy that I’m keeping my time busy and involved in a story on programming.”
