WWE star Matt Hardy has promised that we will one day see the return of the “Broken” gimmick which made him such a star in IMPACT.
When he and brother Jeff returned to WWE at WrestleMania 33, Hardy was very much back in his “Hardy Boyz” gimmick, but once Jeff injured himself, WWE attempted to capitalise on the success of Broken Hardy by going with their own, watered down “Woken Hardy” gimmick.
As expected, it didn’t really work with WWE’s audience, but that hasn’t stopped Matt from trying to re-introduce it, even if it’s just on social media.
Replying to a fan on Twitter, Matt said he was doing everything possible to try and re-introduce the gimmick, and “insists” it will happen.
Thanks for the kind words. I appreciated the love Chicago showed me on #RAW. I thank @WWE for taking very good of me as an independently contracted employee. I know #BROKEN Matt is still in demand, awesome & money. I insist on making it happen AGEEN. https://t.co/1QNM52xqo7 https://t.co/2ib5tcls08

It is thought that his contract with WWE expires in early 2020, and he has previously indicated he may look elsewhere to help him re-introduce the character.
What he needs is some real creative freedom like he had in IMPACT. If only there was a new promotion which is being praised for allowing its talent a lot of creative freedom…
