Matt Jackson Reveals Status For NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 AEW

Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks has confirmed his status for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, with Kenny Omega set for action at the event.

On the January 4 show, Kenny Omega will challenge for Will Ospreay’s IWGP US Championship.

This will be Omega’s first NJPW bout since losing the IWGP Heavyweight Title to Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 13 in 2019.

For many of Omega’s biggest matches in NJPW, Matt & Nick Jackson would accompany the Best Bout Machine to the ring.

The inaugural AEW Trios Champions will not be making an appearance as a trio at the upcoming Tokyo Dome show this time around.

On the latest episode of Being The Elite, Matt Jackson noted that he won’t be at AEW Dynamite or NJPW Wrestle Kingdom this week because he has the week off.

Matt said:

“I’m taking next week off. I’m not going to be in Seattle, obviously, or the (Tokyo) Dome (for Wrestle Kingdom 17). I’m taking my family on a vacation, something I’ve been planning for a while. It is a Christmas idea. I’ve earned it. I’m happy.”

Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks are currently engaged in a Best of 7 series against current AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle.

With both teams earning three victories, the final bout to decide the winner of the series, and the champions, will be a ladder match on the January 11 edition of Dynamite.
