Matt Riddle makes NXT debut

New WWE signing Matt Riddle made his NXT debut last night on a house show in Sanford, Florida.

Riddle (who wrestled barefoot as he did on the indy circuit) defeated Fabian Aichner following an even contest, finishing him off with with a powerbomb and his trademark knee strike.

The former UFC man was said to be very over with the crowd.

Riddle’s signing was officially confirmed after weeks of speculation at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, where he was shown sat in the crowd.

He still has one more independent date on his calendar, an appearance for UK promotion PROGRESS – a partner promotion of WWE – at Wembley Arena on September 30 where he will square off with Mark Haskins.

Riddle is expected to face Kassius Ohno at November’s TakeOver event.
