If you’ve not heard of, talked about, or read an article about Matt Riddle heading to WWE this past week, then you need to venture out of your cave and into reality. Now, there’s further evidence that Riddle is heading to the yellow brand.
After cancelling all of his Indie dates post-NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, including an appearance at PWG Battle of Los Angeles in September, Riddle has suddenly accepted dates with British promotion Progress Wrestling whom WWE have a solid working relationship with. He will join the company on their Coast to Coast tour of Boston and New York, replacing an injured Travis Banks.
On those cards he will face NXT UK talent Tyler Bate (Boston) and Mark Andrews (New York). That he’s pulled out of all indie dates nonaffiliated with WWE, yet takes bookings for a promotion close to the company’s hearts is causing many to speculate that this is another step closer to the promotion for the indie wizard.
