The Meaning Behind Stephanie Vaquer’s WWE Makeup WWE

WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer has revealed the meaning behind her makeup and it’s connections to Japan.

Stephanie Vaquer has quickly become one of the most popular names on the WWE roster, with her currently reigning as Women’s World Champion just five months after her official main roster call up.

Part of Stephanie’s ring presence is her signature eye makeup over her right eye, and she has now opened up on the meaning behind it.

In a video on WWE Espanyol, Stephanie explained the origins behind the makeup, and it’s connection to Japan.

She said:

“This represents Kintsugi, which in Japan means that when something broken is repaired, it becomes more valuable.

“I learned a lot in Japan, it made me stronger, it made me learn a different style, it made me learn a different culture. It taught me to respect Lucha Libre, to respect the people who have been doing it longer than I have.

“I have a lot of affection for all the fans in Japan because they were always very kind to me and helped me a lot when I started my career and began learning here in Japan.

“I really enjoy Japan and it’s food. Tokyo, I know almost all of Tokyo, I already know how to get around on the Subway. I don’t get lost anymore.

“Thanks to all of Japan for teaching me and for making Stephanie Vaquer who she is today. I learned a lot from Japanese culture, I learned a lot from the people in Japan, from the Japanese style, and that’s what allows me today to become WWE World Champion.”
