Mercedes Mone Makes Bold Claim About Upcoming Title Match NJPW

Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks) has made a bold claim about her upcoming title bout, following her NJPW debut.

The former WWE made an appearance at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 to confront IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI.

After baiting the champ with a handshake, Mercedes dropped KAIRI before challenging her to a bout at NJPW Battle in the Valley.

Speaking with press following her debut, Mercedes pointed out that she and KAIRI have a ‘past’.

Believing that their bout has the potential to be the STARDOM promotion’s best-ever match, Mercedes said:

“I’m interested in many wrestlers, but the reason I decided to fight KAIRI-san in the first place is because we have a ‘past.’

“February 18th, San Jose, New Japan I think it will be the best match in Stardom history, so please look forward to it.”

Mercedes and KAIRI notably crossed paths in WWE, with Mercedes & Bayley feuding with KAIRI & Asuka in 2020.

The duo faced off once in singles action, on a July 2020 episode of Raw in the empty Performance Center during the pandemic.

That match didn’t have a finish as Bayley and Asuka got into the ring and started a two-on-two brawl which led to a tag match.
