Mercedes Moné will face stars from around the world of wrestling, including possibly her first AEW opponent, for a big new title opportunity.

Not only will Mercedes Moné be back in New Japan Pro Wrestling at Resurgence on May 21, 2023 she will be participating in a big one night tournament with other top stars from around the world of wrestling including CMLL, STARDOM and AEW.

Announced by NJPW, Mercedes Moné will be participating in a one night tournament to crown the inaugural New Japan Pro Wrestling STRONG Women’s Champion.

With the match graphic suggesting that Mercedes Moné will meet Stephanie Vanquer in the first round with the winner going on to meet the winner of the tournament’s other bracket.

On that side, AEW star Willow Nightingale first takes on Momo Kohgo before potentially mixing it up with the dastardly Moné.

Obviously it won’t be an AEW sanctioned match, but Moné taking on Willow Nightingale could be a possibility.

Certainly all eyes will be on NJPW Resurgence to find out who will be crowned the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion.

Will that title or the IWGP Women’s Championship be on the line in June at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2?

The card has yet to be announced as AEW continues to prepare for the next pay-per-view, AEW Double or Nothing on May 28, 2023.
