Mercedes Mone Potentially Suffers Serious Injury NJPW

An update has emerged on Mercedes Mone following her NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship match at NJPW Resurgence.

During the May 21 show, a four-woman tournament took place to crown the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women’s titleholder.

The main event of the show saw AEW’s Willow Nightingale face off against Mercedes Mone for the gold, with Nightingale ultimately picking up the victory.

Towards the end of the bout, Mone began to favor her leg, and was carried out of the arena after the final bell.

Per PWInsider, there was word backstage after the bout that Mone suffered a broken ankle.

Mone has now taken to Twitter to comment on her apparent injury, writing:

WRESTLING!!!!

Phew 😮‍💨 not how I dreamed for tonight to go.

I’m so sorry and I love you guys so much.

I’m gonna heal and be back better than ever.

Prior to her match with Willow Nightingale, Mone had defeated Stephanie Vaquer to earn her place in the tournament final.

Nightingale’s path to the finals saw her defeat Momo Kohgo.
