Mercedes Mone Loses IWGP Women’s Title NJPW

Mercedes Mone has now reacted to her IWGP Women’s Championship loss at STARDOM All Star Grand Queendom.

During Sunday’s (April 23) event, Mone put her title on the line in a match against Mayu Iwatani.

There were a lot of eyes on this bout following previous reports that this was Mone’s final bout under her deal with NJPW and STARDOM.

After almost 13 minutes of action, Iwatani pinned Mone after her two-step dragon suplex to become the new IWGP Women’s Champion.

Following the bout, Mone took to the mic to tell Iwatani that she proved herself as the true icon of STARDOM.

Mone has now taken to Twitter to note that she feels broken, but is still rich:

I feel broke 😫! But I called my CPA’s and they told me I’m still rich so I will be okay!
Until next time 🇯🇵

Iwatani is just the third IWGP Women’s Champion in history. KAIRI was the inaugural titleholder, winning a tournament for the gold which concluded in November 2022.

Mone then bested KAIRI in her first match after leaving WWE at February’s Battle in the Valley event.

A major update has emerged on Mone’s contract status, which you can read more about right here.
