Mercedes Mone (FKA Sasha Banks) made her return to professional wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom 17 back on January 4, where she confronted IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI.
Mercedes went on to defeat KAIRI in her first match back at Battle in the Valley to capture the title, which she has since taken with her on various red carpets, including for the season premiere of the Mandalorian.
Speaking with TMZ Sports, Mercedes reflected on her return at Wrestle Kingdom, saying the moment was her second favorite moment of her entire career.
She said:
“It was a moment I’m always going to remember.
“It’s probably my second favorite moment of my career thus far and that’s saying a lot because I’ve done so much in professional wrestling.”
When discussing what is next for her now she has won the title, Mercedes noted that she ‘turns down to nobody’, and will go wherever she is offered the biggest bag.
She said:
“I wanna see who’s ready for Mercedes Mone. I’m always here for the check. I’m always here for the bag and whoever has the biggest bag is where I’m gonna go.”
Mercedes is set to face off against Stardom High Speed Champion AZM for the IWGP Women’s Title at the NJPW Sakura Genesis event on April 8.
Tony Khan discussed the potential of Mercedes appearing in AEW during the post-Revolution media scrum, which you can read here.
