Mick Foley Congratulates Thunder Rosa On Her AEW Women’s World Championship Win

This week’s St. Patrick’s Day Slam edition of AEW Dynamite (March 16) saw a violent cage match between Thunder Rosa and Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. for the AEW Women’s World Championship in AEW’s first-ever women’s cage match.

One legend who made the cage match more infamous than ever during his WWE tenure, Mick Foley, has reached out via Twitter to offer his congratulations to the new champ, writing:

“THUNDER!  Congratulations @thunderrosa22 on your hard-fought and well deserved @AEWWomen’s World Championship title win. Long may you reign!”

During the match finish, in a move straight from the Mick Foley playbook, Dr. Britt Baker retrieved a small bag of thumbtacks from beneath the ring and poured them out in the center of the ring. While both women took some bumps near the tacks, ultimately it was Baker who would be on the receiving end of a Thunder Driver from Thunder Rosa with referee Aubrey Edwards dropping down in the tacks as well, to count the pin.

Thunder Rosa has since announced she will vacating the Warrior Wrestling Women’s Championship.

Dr. Baker has commented on the loss in typical heel fashion, calling fans undeserving idiots. Baker’s title reign lasted an impressive 290 days, the second-longest in AEW history after Hikaru Shida’s 372-day reign.
