There are few wrestlers more closely linked to The Undertaker than Mick Foley. Now, with The Undertaker retired, Foley has taken to his Instagram to pay tribute to his old rival.
Foley wrote that it was an honor to be invited to Survivor Series and said it was impossible to overstate what The Undertaker has meant to his career. Here is the full post:
“FAREWELL UNDERTAKER
It was simply an honor to be invited to participate in the farewell to The Undertaker at Survivor Series. It would be impossible to overstate just how much The Deadman meant to my career. WWE cameras captured a really nice moment between us after the show, off the air. I’m not sure if it will ever see the light of day, but it’s a moment I will always remember.
It was also nice to catch up with so many of my 90s contemporaries—especially the Godwin’s, who I have not seen in many years. It took me about one second to recognize Mark Canterbury a.k.a. Henry Godwin. I had seen Phineas maybe 10 years ago, and his appearance has changed quite a bit over the years. But deep down, he still has that same goofy sense of humor that made him one of the most well liked guys in the dressing room.”
While many would point to their legendary Hell in a Cell match at King of the Ring 1998, many forget that Mick Foley was brought into WWE to face The Undertaker. Had The Undertaker not been so gracious when Foley debuted we may never have gotten that infamous Hell in a Cell match.
