Three-time former WWE Champion Mick Foley has picked out a recent match that “really delivered the goods” at SummerSlam 2025.
Headlining the second night of WWE’s first-ever two night SummerSlam Premium Live Event was the WrestleMania 41 rematch between John Cena and Cody Rhodes.
While their first match at WWE’s “Grandest Stage of Them All” received a negative response from many fans, SummerSlam’s Street Fight was the opposite, being heralded as one of, if not the best WWE match of 2025 thus far.
Speaking to Kron4, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley named Cena vs. Rhodes as a recent match that “blew him away”, as well as heaping praise on Raw’s Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch.
Foley said:
“Well, I was impressed with so many of the SummerSlam matches. Cody and Cena, I think really delivered the goods. And I think what ‘Mami’ (Rhea Ripley) is doing briefly is sensational — I love that.
“Becky Lynch is back, so I think WWE is looking at some really good days. They’ve done a great job getting their talent ready for the main stage, and that pays off in the end.”
Rhodes defeated Cena to win his second Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam, and has since transitioned into a feud with Drew McIntyre.
While Cena was attacked by a returning Brock Lesnar in the closing moments of SummerSlam, the 17-time world champion will first take on Logan Paul at WWE Clash in Paris on August 31.
