WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has stated that if a certain Jon Moxley dream match was to happen, he’d want to be the referee.
Japanese wrestling legend Atsushi Onita has recently revealed that he’d be open to stepping into the ring with Jon Moxley. Speaking with Fanbyte, Onita pointed out that Moxley has started entering arenas to the same version of “Wild Thing” that he uses.
Discussing the homage, Onita said:
“Jon Moxley uses my theme music? Thank you, Moxley. I think if he has a spirit of JADO (evil ways), we might stand in the same ring some day. It would be interesting, wouldn’t it?”
Onita is credited for popularising deathmatch wrestling in Japan. He recently gave his opinion on Moxley and Omega’s exploding barbed-wire deathmatch from AEW Revolution.
Another name often closely associated with hardcore wrestling is Mick Foley. Eager to officiate a Moxley vs Onita bout, Foley tweeted:
“If an Onita vs Moxley match were to happen, I’d like to be the referee. I always felt the “American Onita” label given to me by the Japanese press and fans was a huge honor.”
Moxley last wrestled at AEW Double or Nothing in May. He reportedly hasn’t attended AEW tapings since the birth of his daughter.
