Mickie James Helped Former WWE Star Get Job In TNA Wrestling After Release

Mickie James has revealed that she was instrumental in getting a former champion’s foot in the door in TNA Wrestling following her release from WWE.

Ash By Elegance (fka Dana Brooke) was released by WWE in September 2023 after almost a decade in the company.

Months following her departure, Brooke reinvented herself as Ash By Elegance and debuted in TNA Wrestling in January 2024. Elegance has remained with the company since then and becoming a TNA Knockout Tag Team and Knockouts World Champion during her run so far.

Speaking to Gabby AF ahead of she and Elegance’s face-to-face confrontation on the February 26 episode of TNA Impact, Mickie James discussed their recent physical confrontation at TNA No Surrender and Ash’s social media comments since:

James said:

“I don’t know who she thinks she’s talking to. Apparently she’s mixing me up with someone else, because I’m a phone call away obviously. And I hope she doesn’t think she’s going to start Twitter beefing with me because that’s not happening, we’re not doing that honey.

“I’m happy to show up next week. I will be there with bells on and boots for sure, the best boots. Because I do have a lot to say… I was just going to let them know that she pushed her foot off the rope and to restart the match, and it escalated quickly right? Tensions were high, but it’s a lot deeper than what people think on a surface level.”

James would then reflect on her and Ash’s friendship and the role she played in getting her to TNA following her WWE release:

“I love Ash, we traveled together, we wrestled together. And if she thinks about it, she really thinks deep down, she called me when she got let go with WWE and she really didn’t know what to do. I talked to her some and then I was like, ‘Let me talk to Tommy (Dreamer). Let me talk to Tommy, let me see.’ And I don’t do that for a lot of people.

“Not for nothing but once you give someone your validation or your credit or something like that, you would hope that they would then do right by that and not make you look like a fool.

“So, I love Ash think she’s extremely talented, I just don’t know, as a friend and I haven’t talked to her in a while, as a friend I don’t know where her head’s at or like where this turn happened.

“It’s really frustrating when you put your word on somebody and you’re made to look like a fool, right? And she’s out here not being the Ash that I know and not being the Ash that I called Tommy in and asked him to give her a chance.”

“I think she was doing so great, she was doing so wonderful, like really killing it and it was wonderful to see the people get behind her because I think that they wanted to see her get an opportunity to truly shine.

“She was living in it and it was so awesome to see, but then to turn around and not just deceive the people, like okay that sucks (but) as a friend she also knows I laid down that title (TNA Knockouts Title) in the middle of the ring and had to walk away and never got the chance to go after it again. So for her to then turn to the internet, like a fan in a chat room, like for real where are we at? Are we Twitter beefing now, former Knockouts Champions?

“Tara was injured in the ring you know, so to make light of that it’s not only disrespecting me but its also disrespecting an entire locker room that has been injured with and for that title and still kept fighting through or could no longer compete. Champion after champion because that’s what it takes most times, you’re fighting through the pain right? I don’t like that, it’s not cool.

“I’m certainly happy to address that with here face-to-face, woman-to-woman.”
