Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James praised Roxanne Perez following her NXT Women’s Championship victory.
Perez won the NXT Women’s Championship from former champion Mandy Rose on this week’s (December 13) edition of NXT, ending Rose’s 413 reign with the title and preventing her from becoming the second longest-reigning champion in the promotion’s history.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, James had some positive things to say about Perez.
Recalling a conversation she had with Perez ahead of NWA EmPowerrr in 2021, James said:
“I finally met her at that tryout. I told her, and I’m saying this now because Scott (D’Amore) would have probably stabbed me in the eyeball. But I was like ‘I hope I don’t see you back here’.
“You could just see it. This girl is about to take off. She is so young and she has got the whole world at her feet. She is going to be one of the biggest stars in wrestling. One of the biggest stars in wrestling.”
Perez responded to James’ nice words on Twitter:
“Thank you so much @MickieJames and @THETOMMYDREAMER. You guys gave me so much inspiration and encouragement. I’ll never forget it”
Former NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose has since been released by WWE.
