Mickie James has been out since July 2019 after tearing her ACL, and has since undergone successful surgery on the injury.
It is expected that she will be ready to return to the ring in early 2020, but it looks like WWE has some other ideas for the former women’s champion.
All three people who watched WWE Main Event this week will have noticed that James was on commentary alongside Vic Joseph and Dio Maddin. Maddin is rumoured to be heading for bigger things as the colour commentator on Raw going forward.
It has not been confirmed whether this will be a permanent role for Mickie James, especially as PWInsider is also reporting that there has been talk of her becoming a backstage producer.
James’ July surgery was the first major medical procedure of her 20-year career, but there’s nothing to suggest that she won’t re-enter the ring once she has recovered.
Since returning to WWE in 2016, James has generally been the best friend of *insert top heel on roster* but has rarely had the opportunity to actually do anything of note.
Since losing Ronda Rousey, the women’s roster has once again become stale due to terrible booking and script writing, but perhaps when James returns it’ll be a different story. Perhaps.
