According to the Wrestling Observer, former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James will be undergoing surgery at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama, later today to repair a torn ACL.
James sustained the injury working a house show in the early part of June, and is expected to miss between 7 and 9 months of action while she rehabilitates.
Mickie James has been wrestling for 20-years, and this will be the first major surgery she has undergone.
She tweeted in the past week to say that she missed being in the ring, which given that she spends about 5 minutes in the ring every few weeks when she is on TV, is saying something.
It was speculated back in 2016 that she had signed a three-year deal with WWE, which would mean her current contract expires this year, but that has not been confirmed.
While she is away from the ring, she’s working on her country music career (which I just found out about), and is working on a third album.
