A report from Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet suggests that both Mike and Maria Kanellis recently requested to be released from their WWE contracts. This report comes within 24 hours of the news that WWE are worried The Revival may also be looking to leave.
In an age when you can be employed by WWE for years without appearing on TV, it’s seemingly not as easy to get your “future endeavours” as it once was.
In recent years, the amount of talent being released has noticeably decreased, but there are still some stars who have seemingly taken a more active route in their bid to leave.
Debuting for WWE in June 2017, Mike Kanellis’ time in the company has been fraught with issues. Kanellis struggled with a drug habit for some time and has only recently returned to the ring, appearing on 205 Live.
As for Maria, becoming pregnant and subsequently having a baby made it very tricky for her to appear, managing only one in-ring appearance since her return at the Evolution battle royal in October 2018.
They are reportedly both unhappy with their roles within WWE which has led to them requesting to be released. Satin’s report did not indicate whether the request was likely to be granted.
