Mike Chioda Reveals The Angriest He’s Ever Seen Vince McMahon

Former WWE referee Mike Chioda has revealed what iconic match made Vince McMahon the angriest he’s ever seen the Chairman.

Veteran referee Mike Chioda was with WWE for over 30 years, so witnessed McMahon’s reactions to a lot of memorable matches first-hand. Chioda has revealed that Kurt Angle vs Shane McMahon from King of the Ring 2001.

Speaking on Monday Mailbag (via AdFreeShows), Chioda revealed that McMahon was upset by Angle repeatedly trying to put Shane through the glass wall. Recalling the chaotic streetfight, Chioda said:

“I’d have to say probably during the Kurt Angle/Shane (McMahon) match at King Of The Ring, he was pissed, he was upset man because Kurt was trying to put (Shane) through that glass.”

“I had the match and I remember Kurt couldn’t hear me, he was deaf in one ear. I was yelling, cussing, ‘Don’t do it again, don’t do it again!’ Kurt just kept trying to put him through the glass and finally did it. It was a hell of a match, I see (Vince) was pissed off that night at everybody, including me because he thought I wasn’t listening to him but I was telling Kurt ‘Don’t do it’ but Shane’s like ‘Do it, do it again! Do it again!’ and Kurt’s not hearing me and it was a lot of chaos that night.”

“There’s a lot of nights I’ve seen (Vince) p*ssed and there’s a lot of nights I’ve seen him happy but mostly I’ve seen him pissed off at Gorilla.”

Chioda was released by WWE in April 2020. He made occasional appearances for AEW in 2020, notably officiating the TNT Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin at Full Gear.

Chioda recently discussed the backstage reaction to the botch with the finish of the WrestleMania 35 main event, noting that McMahon was “f**king hot” following the show.
