Miro Reveals Why He Rejected Impact Following WWE Release

Former WWE star Rusev (now going by Miro in AEW) has revealed on his Twitch stream that he was contacted by Impact Wrestling earlier this year after his release from Vince McMahon’s company.

The former United States Champion explained that his decision not to join Impact Wrestling had nothing to do with the Coronavirus pandemic, but was simply down to the fact that he didn’t want to join them:

“It had nothing to do with COVID. I just didn’t want to go to Impact. They were very kind, they reached out. I just needed some time.”

Many people speculated that Miro was going to debut for Impact at Slammiversary back in July. However, as we know now, that didn’t come to fruition.

Miro made his debut on AEW: Dynamite last week as “The Best Man’ for the wedding between Penelope Ford and fellow Twitch streamer Kip Sabian. In his first promo, Miro took some shots at WWE.

It has been revealed that Miro’s AEW deal allows him to work for independent promotions and for NJPW, but is unable to work other televised US shows, meaning an Impact run is off the table right now.
