Miyu Yamashita Earns AEW Women’s Title Match

Japanese star Miyu Yamashita earned an AEW Women’s Title shot during Saturday’s (July 9) TJPW Summer Sun Princess event.

During the event, Yamashita faced off against AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa with the stipulation that if Yamashita won, she’d earn a shot at the title in the US.

Yamashita ultimately pinned Rosa, reversing an inside cradle for the victory.

After the bout, Rosa shook Yamashita’s hand, confirming that the Japanese star will challenge for the AEW gold next time she visits the US. A date for the title bout wasn’t announced.

Yamashita wrestled for AEW last month, competing during the June 1 Dark: Elevation taping, with her match airing on the June 7 show.

Following the June 1 taping, reports noted that there was talk of doing a Thunder Rosa vs Miyu Yamashita feud in AEW.

Thunder Rosa hasn’t lost a match on AEW TV since winning the AEW Women’s Championship in March.
