Having chosen to re-sign to a multi-year contract with AEW in 2024, MJF has opened up about his future plans when his deal expires.
MJF signed the new deal, as opposed to a contract extension, in 2024 ahead of his September return at AEW All Out.
With it previously being reported that MJF is earning more than $1 million per year under his new contract, the AEW star spoke to Jimmy Traina about the winner of the “bidding war of 2024” in a recent podcast.
Opening up about the people who hoped to see MJF outside of AEW, MJF revealed the winner of the bidding war and what it means to him, saying:
“For the people who are panicked, ‘Oh my gosh, am I ever gonna get to see MJF outside of All Elite Wrestling? Am I ever gonna get to see MJF in this place? That place?’
“Look, the reason I was paid top dollar is because I’m a generational talent. I won the bidding war. WWE didn’t win the bidding war, All Elite Wrestling didn’t win the bidding war. I won the bidding war. Because I am making an absurd amount of money.”
With WWE sources having been under the belief that MJF had signed until 2027 with AEW, despite talk of a “bidding war”, the 28 year old star would reflect on his standing when his current deal expires, saying:
“By the time the contract is up, I will still be absurdly young and then I will be able, once again, to make an absurd amount of money in the next bidding war and you know who’s going to win again? Me…
“I am going to be very rich and very young by the time the contract is over.”
In December 2023, John Cena revealed the conversation that he had with MJF, revealing his thoughts on the AEW star.
Cena would state that he had told MJF that he hoped he would see him “play for the right team” in the future.
