There has been an update on new AEW International Champion MJF’s challenger in another company announced earlier today.

MJF captured the title from Will Ospreay on this week’s AEW Dynamite 250 show, pinning Ospreay in 59:58 to win the title for the first time in his career.

Today, CMLL announced that MJF is set to defend his championship at the upcoming show in Arena Mexico on August 2.

Now, we have an idea on who will end up being the man to challenge MJF for the International Championship on the show.

CMLL has announced an eight-man one night tournament, set to take place on July 23, with the winner facing off against MJF for the AEW International Championship on August 2.

The tournament will feature Templario, Flip Gordon, Valiente, Esfinge, Rugido, Zandokan Jr, Stuka Jr and Averno.

MJF is no stranger to facing off against stars from CMLL, with him defeating CMLL star Hechicero in the opening match of the Forbidden Door pay-per-view in Long Island last month.
