Future MJF AEW World Championship Matches Revealed? AEW

AEW World Champion MJF has addressed potential challengers for his title, naming an absent star as a possible opponent.

MJF won his second AEW World Championship at the December 27, 2025 Worlds End pay-per-view, defeating Hangman Page, Swerve Strickland and Samoa Joe for the gold.

Speaking with WDW News Today, MJF listed off names of the stars who appear to be gunning for his title, including Will Ospreay in the list.

When asked if there’s anyone in particular he knows is gunning for his title, MJF said:

“Unfortunately, everyone is (coming after his AEW World Championship), I’m exhausted at the thought of it.

“You’ve got Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, Hangman Adam Page, Samoa Joe, Brody King.

“I just wrestled a gentleman by the name of Bandido for it, beat him. I’m incredible at wrestling and I beat him with ease, if we’re being honest.

“If Will Ospreay comes back, I know it’s something he’s gunning for.”

Will Ospreay hasn’t wrestled since the Lights Out Steel Cage match at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door on August 24, 2025.

Ospreay has been out of action healing from herniated discs in his spine since then, but did appear during Hiroshi Tanahashi’s retirement ceremony at Wrestle Kingdom 20 on January 4.
