After we saw Wardlow turn against MJF at AEW Revolution, it was hard to imagine that the betrayal would go unanswered and Wardlow received the answer at a most inopportune time.
Wardlow had the match all but one, laying out Scorpio Sky with numerous giant powerbombs as a part of his powerbomb symphony already landed, Shawn Spears appeared and Wardlow called him down when from behind, MJF snuck up on Wardlow, clobbering him with the Dynamite Diamond ring and Sky capitalized, getting the pin and retaining his TNT Championship.
While Wardlow briefly had MJF in his clutches after the match, a chair shot by Shawn Spears changed the momentum of the post-match angle. Spears would go on to level Wardlow with another chair shot, this time to the head, and MJF landed another punch with the Dynamite Diamond ring, leaving Wardlow incapacitated in the center of the ring and MJF posing to thunderous crowd jeers.
Scorpio Sky won the TNT title last week after defeating Sammy Guevara in a match finish which saw Guevara distracted on the outside by American Top Team with their new signee, Paige Van Zant who were also at ringside for Sky’s match against Wardlow.
