MJF’s new salary has reportedly been revealed, following the star signing a new contract with AEW.
The star made his return at the September 4 All Out pay-per-view, winning the Casino Ladder Match as the masked ‘Joker’ entrant, before unmasking in the closing moments of the show.
This was MJF’s first AEW appearance following the June 1 edition of Dynamite, when he voiced his frustrations with the promotion in a promo that blurred the lines between work and shoot.
After his return, MJF revealed that he has signed a new deal with AEW for more money, without extending his contract.
Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, with this new deal, MJF is now earning more than $1 million per year.
For comparison, previous reports revealed that the AEW original likely started with the promotion on a salary between $40,000-$70,000, before receiving a pay rise. It was believed that after this initial pay rise, MJF was earning ‘hundreds of thousands of dollars’, but significantly less than a number of stars who joined AEW after MJF, including CM Punk.
Prior to his AEW hiatus, MJF had reportedly been legitimately frustrated with his previous contract and salary.
Despite signing a new deal, MJF is still set to become a free agent in January 2024.
Following his Casino Ladder Match victory, MJF now has a poker chip that he can cash in for an AEW World Title shot essentially whenever he chooses.
