Moose Explains His Actions: Impact Results

A meeting of the Don’s???

After King and The OGz accidentally took out a kid, Konnan and King were called into to meet with the upper authority of whatever street gang they belong too.  The leaders ruled they would be facing off in a 6 man match at Bound For Glory to end the war between the two factions.

Nate’s Take:
This is different.  It’s not my cup of tea.  I appreciate the effort of presenting wrestling in a unique way and I’m sure there are those out there who will love it.  Whatever the road to get here may be, Santana and Ortiz are really great in the ring and this feud has people talking.  I’d expect LAX to walk out of Bound for Glory as the Tag Team Champions.

oVe defeat Zachary Wentz, Trey Miguel, and Ace Austin

This match was a spotfest.  Wentz hit a massive dive to the outside.  Ace Austin hits a diving neck breaker over the top rope to the outside.  The Crists hit double suicide dives threw the ropes at the corner to the outside.  Callihan hit lots of kicks.  It’s very hard to actually describe it in writing.  After all the chaos, oVe hits the ALL SEEING EYE for the win.

After the match, Callihan cuts a promo on the Lucha Brothers and Brian Cage.  Callihan warns them about continuing the fight against oVE.

Nate’s Take:
This match was a lot of fun and a great way to end the night’s in ring action.  I wasn’t sold on the Crist brothers when they first came on the scene at Impact, but Callihan has invigorated this group.  This feud with the Lucha Brothers has been fantastic.  Adding Brian Cage to the mix is definitely going to make it even more outrageous.  Impact should sign Ace Austin and Zachary Wentz, TODAY!!!  These are the kinds of guys who have ultimately found their way into ROH in recent years.  Wentz has been impressive in losses the last two weeks.  Austin had some nice moves this week.  They could bolster the X-Division. Wentz and Desmond Xavier are an impressive tag team on the independent scene and could bolster that division as well.

Moose, Austin Aries, and Killer Cross Promo

Last week, Moose turned his back on Eddie Edwards.  The show cuts off with Moose driving a chair into another chair wrapped around the neck of Edwards.  Moose explains that he always had Eddie’s back.  He was there in the hospital when about lost his eye, when he was having wife troubles, and when he was fighting Tommy Dreamer.  Moose claimed that when he was having his surgery and in the hospital, Eddie never showed up.  Eddie was too busy chasing the title to be there for him.

Moose claims the only guy who came to see him was Cross. Cross asked him where Eddie was.  Moose says Aries called him up and asked why his best friend wouldn’t be there for him.  Moose says he’s sees the way now and he’s going to run with guys who have his back.

Out comes Johnny Impact.  Johnny Impact informs Aries they will be facing off for the Impact World Title at Bound For Glory.  After some back and forth, Impact insults Aries “banana”.  Aries jumps on the ramp. The fight ensues.  Moose, Cross, and Aries gain the upper hand.  The show goes off the air with another chair shot to the throat to Impact.

Nate’s Take:
I posted on Discord yesterday something about odd groupings that don’t make a lot of sense in WWE.  When you look at Aries and Cross, it makes sense.  Cross is a paid gun for hire to watch Aries back.  I questioned the addition of Moose.  However, Impact Wrestling did a decent job of storytelling to explain Moose’s actions.  I am expecting Moose vs. Edwards at Bound For Glory.  I’m interested to see Moose as a heel.  I don’t recall him ever playing the heel role and thought he seemed much more comfortable on the mic last night in that role.
Overall, I’d give this show a solid 3.5 out of 5 rating.  Petey Williams vs. Rich Swann was solid and advanced a storyline effectively.  The Hendry/Grado vs. Desi Hit Squad was much the same.  The oVe match was really, really entertaining and fun to watch.  Tessa Blanchard vs. Yung was a great TV match. The final promo was solid from Moose and ended with a good angle setting up Bound for Glory.  The only real negatives on the show were the Eli Drake segment, the Gang meeting and the GWN flashback.
We’re a month out from Bound for Glory and Impact is building to another solid show.  We know we are getting Johnny Impact vs. Austin Aries and the OGz vs. LAX.  Other matches taking shape should include Matt Sydal vs. Rich Swann and Moose vs. Eddie Edwards.  We’ll probably see some combination of oVe vs. the Lucha Brothers and Brian Cage.  Tessa Blanchard will defend her title.  Joe Hendry and Grado should be in some kind of action.  Impact has been much improved since Don Callis has come on the scene.  If you haven’t been watching, give it a chance again.
