More information has emerged from Fightful about the in-ring accident involving Brie Bella and Liv Morgan on last night’s Raw where Bella twice kicked Morgan in the face, knocking her out.
After the incident, referee Darrick Moore was immediately told in his earpiece to keep Morgan out of the match. Because Morgan did not know where she was teammate Sarah Logan helped her out of the ring to receive treatment from ringside doctor Chris Amman. Ruby Riott took over in the match, drawing on her vast indy experience to call spots on the fly.
Morgan was somehow able to return to the ring, which she was not supposed to do. Apparently on auto pilot, she joined in with a planned triple suplex spot.
Realising that Morgan was putting herself danger, her Riott Squad teammates physically restrained her from getting further involved, telling her that she was hurt and needed to stay out of the match until help arrived.
Quite why she was able to evade officials and return to the match after suffering the injury is unclear.
After the suplex spot she was again seen to at ringside by Dr. Amman. Nevertheless, it is clear that the match should have been stopped immediately when Morgan was knocked out, or at the very least she should have been taken to the back rather than having to wait for the match to finish to receive proper treatment.
The aftermath
Backstage after the match, Brie apologised to Morgan repeatedly for what had happened and Morgan accepted the apology. However, according to sources Morgan is suffering from memory loss and still does not remember what happened in the bout.
Although there seems to be no heat between Bella and Morgan stemming from the incident, the other two members of the Riott Squad are less than pleased with Brie. Both were said to be very unhappy about what happened to Liv, with the situation intensified by Brie accidentally stiffing Ruby full-force in the mouth with a forearm after the Liv incident.
Is Brie to blame?
Although the blame is being placed firmly on Brie’s shoulders by many wrestling fans, others have started flocking to support her. Former ECW and WWE star Tommy Dreamer was one of them, saying:
"For anyone who said it's a 'botched spot' or that Brie was at fault, they are 100% incorrect. No one EVER goes in there with intent to injure their opponent. It was nobodies fault, it was a mis-timed thing." – @THETOMMYDREAMER on Brie @BellaTwins kicks to @YaOnlyLivvOnce on #RAW pic.twitter.com/OoOJdIkHFh

Another ex-WWE star, The Hurricane, also weighed in:
There were other people in the match that coulda continued it. Things happen in pro wresting. The instinct it to try and continue if you can. Looked like bad timing, nothing more. https://t.co/zHLFIJOZ3r

Former WWE Women’s Champion Gail Kim felt much the same way:
I’m sure it was an accident. We are in the world of pro wrestling after all. Injuries unfortunately happen. https://t.co/VnXR1nVF9C

***UPDATE***
Liv Morgan has been officially diagnosed with a concussion. WWE released the following statement:
“Liv Morgan has a concussion and is going through the proper protocol under WWE’s comprehensive wellness program.”
Morgan will have to pass Impact testing before she returns to action, with no time frame set for her return at this time.
Do you blame Brie for hurting Morgan? Or is this a case of ‘accidents happen’? Let us know!
