Yesterday, a report came out detailing the NXT releases that happened on Friday night during SmackDown, citing potential changes being made to the NXT brand going forward.
Dave Meltzer detailed these changes on today’s Wrestling Observer radio. Meltzer reiterated that NXT was looking to go back to a more ‘old school’ style of developmental.
Meltzer claims that the edict from within the company was that they were looking for ‘bigger, younger guys’ who can ‘main event WrestleMania’.
The edict claims that there will be ‘no more midgets, no more starting in their 30s, looking for box office attractions’.
Meltzer also noted that these releases came at the order of Vince McMahon, Bruce Pritchard and John Laurinaitis, and that Triple H and Shawn Michaels had no control over them.
