Shane McMahon was quietly let go from WWE earlier this week, with him receiving major backstage heat due to his pitches for the 2022 Royal Rumble match.
Fightful Select (subscription required) has provided more information on the ideas that Shane pitched for the match, including McMahon pitching to go on at a spot that would highlight him, with one person noting that he even pitched being number one.
Vince McMahon reportedly came by later on, announcing that he had made changes to the match, and that he wouldn’t be doing much of what Shane had laid out.
Fightful notes that when Vince McMahon learned of Shane’s plans, he wasn’t happy about them, and neither was Brock Lesnar. Shane insisted on seeing them through, which didn’t end up happening.
Fightful notes one particularly humorous situation, since Shane McMahon was actually supposed to be number 29, and Randy Orton number 28, which were reversed in the match. Those near the situation say they heard Shane reacted hastily, and Orton pretty well informed him that he would in fact NOT be entering to Shane McMahon’s theme, so Shane probably needed to go out when his number was called.
