Further details have emerged on the January 2024 cohort of independent wrestlers that will be joining WWE included the son of Fit Finlay.
It was previously reported that Brogan Finlay was one of three names confirmed to have signed WWE developmental deals.
Lucky Ali and Jay Malachi were two other names that were reporting to the WWE Performance Center, as reported by BodySlam.net.
Dave Meltzer has provided details of the total number of trainees who signed for the January 2024 start date.
In the new issue of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer noted that there are still eight additional names that have been signed whose names haven’t been revealed yet, writing:
There were 11 new wrestlers hired that start in January in Orlando. Only three names have come out.
Lucky Ali, who has been wrestling five years and is a Carolinas indie guy trained by George South.
Jay Malachi, another Carolinas indie guy who worked a few AEW shows earlier this year at Universal tapings.
Both have been wrestling regularly for about five years.
Brogan Finlay, 21, the son of Fit Finlay and brother of David Finlay, is the most well-known name. He’s worked a lot of indies including a few New Japan U.S. shows.
The tryout took place at the WWE Performance Center in September 2023.
As previously reported, the tryout was for experienced independent wrestlers.
WWE continues to run tryouts for elite college athletes who have no wrestling experience.
One name who didn’t make the tryout was OVW’s Hollyhood Haley J who revealed that she wasn’t able to get medical clearance due to her epilepsy.
