Some more NXT stars are backstage at SmackDown tonight to have dark ‘tryout’ matches ahead of potential main roster call-ups.
As reported by PWInsider, the following matches are currently scheduled for WWE management to watch and assess tonight:
- Shotzi Blackheart vs. Toni Storm
- Odyssey Jones vs. Robert Roode
- Karrion Kross vs. Cesaro
For those unfamiliar with Odyssey Jones, he’s a 300-pound former footballer who signed with WWE in 2019 and his real name is Omari Palmer.
NXT referee Aja Smith is also backstage at SmackDown tonight, as originally reported by Fightful Select.
Previous weeks have also seen Bronson Reed and Scarlett have dark matches too. Some call-ups are expected to be made in the upcoming WWE Draft after SummerSlam.
