There has been an update on the possibility of more WWE premium live events becoming two nights following WrestleMania and SummerSlam.
WWE held it’s first-ever two night WrestleMania back in 2020, with the show now becoming a traditional two night show every year since.
Following the success of two night WrestleMania shows for WWE, it was announced that SummerSlam will also become a two night event starting with next year’s event in New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.
Speaking at the UBS Global Media & Communications Conference, TKO CEO Mark Shapiro was asked if there was a chance that other WWE PLEs would eventually also become two night events.
He said:
“Definitely opportunities for that. It’s all a progression, a natural evolution. WrestleMania was a big hit for us to expand. As you look at all these PLEs, depending the partner, I think there is absolutely an opportunity to advance some of them to two days. We’re in a good place with our storylines. The way it weaves through is WrestleMania is the culmination and then a new season begins.
“You use Raw, SmackDown, Saturday Night’s Main Event, the PLEs to all weave a long form story around multiple storylines and characters driving that discussion and narrative. It also gives us the opportunity to launch new names and bring back names.”
Shapiro mentioned the returns of CM Punk, John Cena and The Rock as names that the company has brought back into the fold.
WWE’s next premium live event will be the 2025 Royal Rumble in Indianapolis on February 1.
