There has been an update on WWE debut plans for the Motor City Machine Guns following a vignette on SmackDown.
After months of speculation, legendary tag team the Motor City Machine Guns have officially signed with WWE, though there has been a change of plans on where they will land.
Despite rumours that Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin were set to head to the NXT brand, a vignette aired on last night’s episode of SmackDown featuring shots of numerous Detroit landmarks and scenery, which is to hype up Shelley and Sabin’s arrival to the blue brand.
The team’s move to SmackDown came as a surprise to many fans following the reports of them moving to NXT, with speculation as to whether or not Rey Fenix having his AEW deal extended played a factor in the decision.
In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), someone in the know in the company reached out to Fightful, noting that they had never heard of the Motor City Machine Guns being discussed for the NXT brand, with them being planned for SmackDown for quite some time.
