The rumours of a relationship between All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling have been swirling this week. With the departure of New Japan President and CEO Harold Meij, there is renewed hope for a partnership.
This is not lost on the stars of AEW, clearly. Orange Cassidy and Evil Uno both took to Twitter today to tease working for New Japan. Cassidy was first, asking when the Best of the Super Junior tournament was. Evil Uno then followed, stating he wonders about the World Tag League tournament.

There was increased speculation this week following AEW Dynamite. New Japan icon Hiroshi Tanahashi appeared on the show to wish Chris Jericho well but the crossover did not stop there. New Japan was explicitly referenced during the Jon Moxley vs. Lance Archer video packages. The two competed at New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 14 this year, a fact AEW made sure to include.
Beyond this, Kenny Omega also alluded to having competed in and won the G1 Climax tournament. Many have said this can’t be a coincidence while others have remained sceptical.
Both the Best of the Super Juniors and the World Tag League will take place following the conclusion of New Japan’s G1 Climax. The two tournaments will take place with shows happening on alternating days.
