Multiple Title Changes At WWE Payback

WWE Payback was up and down as a show but it did feature a number of title changes. The most important of which was Roman Reigns winning the Universal Championship in the main event. If you want to read more about that, you can click here.

The main show started out with a title match as Bobby Lashley challenged Apollo Crews. The match was contested for the United States Championship and, as the name of this article might suggest, it resulted in a title change. Lashley was able to get the win clean as a whistle, submitting Crews with the Full Nelson-body scissors combo. This is the first time Lashley has been United States Champion in 14 years.

Later in the show, Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax challenged for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Bayley and Sasha Banks have had a rough week after Banks lost the Raw Women’s Title to Asuka at SummerSlam. This week was made much worse when Baszler choked Bayley out with her partner’s arm. It sounds odd, but it was awesome. While trapping Banks’ legs, Baszler trapped Bayley in the Kirafuda Clutch and used Banks’ arm to choke Bayley.

Each of the three championship matches on the show resulted in title changes, making Payback a pretty newsworthy show.
