It was announced yesterday that WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has tested positive for COVID-19. However, it has become clear that the latest outbreak will affect much more than just Raw or SmackDown.
Fightful Select (subscription required) is reporting that there has been another outbreak in the wrestling world following the holiday season. While specifics were not named, the report says shows from WWE, AEW and Impact Wrestling have all been affected.
Obviously, names were not given out of those affected but the report did state that several matches and appearances were forced to be nixed as a result of the outbreak.
It was also reported that sources in WWE said the company was expecting increased positive tests after the holidays.
It remains to be seen just how much of an impact the outbreak will have on these promotions’ shows over the next few weeks. As Drew McIntyre is the only person who has been confirmed to have COVID-19, he will be off television for a few weeks but no other names have been made official.
We will keep you updated as this story develops.
