Andrade ”Cien” Almas became Andrade… Erick Rowan became Rowan… Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic became Tucker and Otis… and now Mustafa Ali has had his first name dropped and become Ali.
Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that Mustafa Ali has had his named shortened and will now be referred to simply as ”Ali”. His Twitter hand is now just @AliWWE and his profile on WWE.com reads:
” A veteran of the cruiserweight wars, Ali brought his years of in-ring experience to Full Sail University in pursuit of the Cruiserweight Classic crown during the Cruiserweight Classic. For more than a decade, Ali has honed his craft all over the country, squaring off with some of the toughest competition that both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions have to offer. Hailing from Chicago, Ali exudes a quiet confidence that allows his action to speak louder than words.”
The former 205 Live member has made a rapid rise to the top of the card on Smackdown Live since his debut. Ali even faced Kevin Owens and Daniel Bryan for the latter’s WWE Championship at Fastlane but it appears the company, for whatever reason, were not contempt with his name.
Who knows why WWE have done this, but before long we might be seeing John Cena become John, Samoa Joe become Joe and Sami Zayn become Sami…
