A WWE star says he is proud of Bianca Belair breaking a championship record.
Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair made history by becoming the longest-reigning black champion of any singles title in WWE history. She broke MVP’s record, which was a 343-day reign as WWE United States Champion between 2007 and 2008.
During the latest episode of WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves, MVP expressed how proud he is of Bianca Belair for the feat. Emphasizing how Belair has earned his respect, he said:
“I have had a lot of growth over the last few years. So, my maturity has come into play where I can tell you that once upon a time, I probably would have had some sour grapes about it.”
“I would have said, ‘Yeah, I mean she hasn’t had to face the people that I had to face’ and then my title defenses and what not.”
“But, I have to say that Bianca Belair the EST has earned my respect. I congratulated her online.”
On his hopes that Belair could potentially break Becky Lynch’s record with the same title and even match Roman Reigns’ reign as a record-breaking, record-setting Women’s Champion, MVP stated:
“I am very proud of her and her accomplishments. I am very happy to see her do it, and I hope that she goes on to break Becky Lynch’s record.”
“As a matter of fact, I hope that her reign matches Roman Reigns and she becomes a record-breaking, record-setting Women’s Champion.”
“She’s classy in every conceivable way. Classy, talented, she has devoted herself to the craft. I have nothing but respect for Bianca Belair.”
Bianca Belair gave a shout-out to MVP on Twitter after breaking his record. In response, MVP congratulated her and wished her a long reign as champion.
Belair will defend the Raw Women’s Championship against Asuka at WrestleMania 39 next weekend. For the full lineup for WrestleMania 39, click here.
