Myles Borne Addresses His Disability On WWE NXT WWE

NXT Championship #1 contender Myles Borne opened up about his disability on WWE TV for the first time during tonight’s May 13 episode of NXT.

Last week, No Quarter Catch Crew member Borne won a 25-man battle royal to earn a shot at Oba Femi for the NXT Championship at Battleground on May 25.

Tonight, Borne, accompanied by the rest of the NQCC, opened NXT with a passionate promo.

He said:

“We’ve been dancing around this whole thing for a while now, but I have a disability. I’m partially deaf. It affects my speech. It affects the way I talk…

“I don’t wanna just be known as the deaf kid. I wanna be judged by my ability, not my disability. And that’s what everyone with a disability wants to be judged by.”

Borne’s deafness is something that has been referenced in a comedic way in backstage segments, but it’s never been directly mentioned until now.

For some background – Borne wasn’t born deaf, but was born with a lung condition that needed treatment, and a side effect of the treatment was that it caused his deafness.

It did save his life though, as his parents had been told he only had a 20% chance of living and he flatlined twice on a five-minute flight to the hospital.

Back to tonight’s WWE NXT, he was cut off by Ethan Page, and the two will have a match tonight with Borne’s #1 contender status on the line – UPDATE: Borne scored the win.
