WWE/NBA
A top NBA star has revealed that they wanted to enter the 2025 Royal Rumble, but felt that WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H was “a little scared” about allowing it.
While the Royal Rumble has seen plenty of celebrity entrants across his near 40 year history, including the likes of Johnny Knoxville, Bad Bunny and Drew Carey, this year’s match only saw one non-wrestler enter the fray – IShowSpeed.
While Speed’s cameo was one to remember and gained huge viewership across WWE’s social platforms, the company could have potentially had another buzz worthy celebrity Rumble appearance on their hands.
That being Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who revealed on the Pat McAfee Show that he actually wanted to enter this year’s men’s Rumble and discussed the possibility with Triple H, however, it would ultimately not happen.
Noting how Triple H was likely “scared” to put him in the match in the middle of the NBA season, Haliburton said:
“I wanted to be in the Rumble. Me and Triple H talked about it. He was like, ‘A lot of people are asking if you’re going to be in the Rumble. I just laughed in their face.’ ‘What the f**k?’
“I think he was a little scared about me doing it in the middle of the season. Remember when Brunson got in there and pushed himself up with the broken hand and Triple H kind of had a heart attack?”
While he didn’t compete, Haliburton was present at Lucas Oil Stadium for the Royal Rumble and would be interviewed by McAfee during the show, one of his many appearances on WWE TV in recent years.
