As previously noted, former Cruiserweight Champion Neville has officially been granted his release from WWE, almost a year after originally requesting his release. Neville is reportedly now free to wrestle anywhere.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE did not want to set a precedent that talents could simply walk out of their contracts and head elsewhere. The feeling was that Neville would have wound up signing with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Instead, WWE froze the ‘King of the Cruiserweights’ contract and had him wait out the rest of his deal. The ‘Man That Gravity Forgot’ has kept an extremely low profile since leaving the company back in 2017, so there’s no telling where his mindset is in terms of wrestling. WWE has yet to publicly acknowledge Neville’s release, but his release was confirmed by the company as they quietly moved his profile to the alumni page.
