AEW
A title change took place on tonight’s AEW Revolution event, with one of the new champions now officially being All Elite.
On last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, the Don Callis Family trio of Kyle Fletcher, Mark Davis and Kazuchika Okada captured the AEW Trios Championship from Jet Set Rodeo.
It was then announced that Okada, Fletcher and Davis would make their first defence of the titles at AEW Revolution, defending against Kevin Knight, Speedball Mike Bailey and CMLL’s Mistico.
Mistico Is All Elite
In a surprising result, Mistico, Bailey and Knight would end up scoring the victory, capturing the AEW World Trios Championship from the Don Callis Family.
Following the match, a graphic appeared on screen announcing that Mistico was now All Elite.
Tony Khan would confirm Mistico’s signing on Twitter, saying:
He just became 1/3 of the new AEW World Trios Champions at #AEWRevolution tonight, and now it’s official: MISTICO IS ALL ELITE!!
Is Mistico Leaving CMLL?
Mistico has been the top star of CMLL for many years of his legendary career in Mexico, currently reigning as one third of the CMLL World Trios Champions with Neon and Mascara Dorada in El Sky Team.
While AEW has now officially announced that Mistico is All Elite, this does not mean that Mistico is leaving CMLL, as he is now under a duel contract with both CMLL and AEW.
Mistico is not the first CMLL star to sign a duel contract with AEW, as we have seen Hechicero, Persephone and Mascara Dorada do the same previously.
Was Mistico Sin Cara In WWE?
While the history of the Mistico character in Lucha Libre is long and extensive, the current Mistico who is now All Elite was the same wrestler who portrayed the original Sin Cara in WWE back in 2011.
Mistico would go under the name Caristico following his WWE departure, as the name Mistico was being used by a different luchador, who now competes in AEW under the name Dralistico, after he signed with WWE.
The original Mistico would regain the Mistico name in 2021 following the now-Dralistico’s departure from CMLL.
The second Sin Cara in WWE, who also competed in WWE under the name Hunico, is a different wrestler who wrestled under the name Mistico in AAA prior to changing his name to Incognito, and now competes as Cinta De Oro.
